The Art Works of Ad Swan - A Show Case of Permanent and Rotating Exhibits of Artist Andre' Swancy
A NEW ART FOR A NEW CENTURY!

Contemporary Calligraphic Monotypes on a Polaroid Film Plate.

IF ANYONE COULD DO WHAT WAS THOUGHT COULD NOT BE DONE, SWANCY EXPERIMENTED UNTIL HE MASTERED THE IMPOSSIBLE.

He draws the rhythmic calligraphic signs that evolve from the subconscious mind, intuitively and ever changing graffiti like symbols - his emotions made visible.
Using various homemade burnishers, he works directly on a polaroid  film plate. He creates monotypes that mock both drypoint and mezzotint intaglio techniques.

SWANCY CHOOSE POLAROID BLACK AND WHITE FILM FOR THE DEEP, RICH BLACK VALUES IT PRODUCES.THE POLAROID PROCESS IS ALSO VERY RESPONSIVE TO MANIPULATION, A QUALITY SWANCY USED TO CREATE VARIATIONS ON A THEME USING PARTICULAR "STILL LIFE" ARRANGEMENT. HE TOOK HIS FINAL PRINTS FROM POLAROID NEGATIVES, EXERTING PAINSTAKING CONTROL OVER THE TONAL RELATIONSHIPS AND FORMAL STRUCTURES THAT EMERGES IN THE IMAGES. HE ALSO INTERVENES IN THE PROCESS BY EXPERIMENTING WITH THE LIGHT IMAGE PROJECTED THROUGH THE ENLARGER, USING VARIOUS DEVELOPMENT CHEMISTRIES AND TEMPERATURES, AND ALTERING AND DEEPENING TONES.
