Altar of Light (Myth & Memory) Dream Time to Dream Time

"The time before time. All people dream yet dreaming has no religion, racial, social class or cultural boundaries nor government...
Dream Time is but the creative force where the Metaphysical and the Physical are one; yes everything in the Natural World is but a symbolic footprint of the Metaphysical being that created our
                          Natural World"...

Altar of light - Swancy wrote "My aim as an artist is to see if I can use a form of folk arts. That I can find stylist frame work truer to my roots. Using "Ethnofacts" taken from the Creole Folk Culture from which I grew up. A spiritual world, this is where a person derives his purpose in life. This in turn is based on the morality which guides a man & a woman through their lives and this makes their lives meaningful".

SOUL - SPEECH
"A - SO CALLED PRIMITIVES CONVERSATION WITH MYTH, MEMORIES AND DREAMS..........................
MY ATTEMPTS TO DERIVE MY FEELINGS AND EMOTIONS BY SIMPLE STROKES, FORMS AND LINES OF COLOR". Swancy

Swancy "As a maker of "images" my creativity comes from environment. A form of creative documentation through reading and travel I experienced various belief systems. I am motivated by a desire to create a symbol language."

ARTIST STATEMENT

"I am greatly interested in how man's spiritual (mythical) drives leads/him to harmony with his/her self and the multi/verse: I further believe that all mankind can and need to create in order to gain unity with the multi/verse."

"In my Art/Craft, I wish only to recover the vision of an average ordinary man/woman and wish to do this without using any techniques beyond an ordinary person grasp."

"I am the keeper of Dream Time. Dreaming, we come from Dream Time. (Birth) We leave being and return to Dream Time (Death)". This world only shadow of Dream Time."
"In my art I see time as a most metaphor. In my construction I hope it forces one to see all things are of this time which is the same time as  yesterday and so on. Time never ends."

"Mans highest achievement is, Image Making."

ARTIST/ACTOR/VIDEO PHOTOGRAPHER - GEORGE BRYANT (OF ATLANTA) WHO PROVIDED, APPRENTICES, WORKED ON THE PROJECT WITH SWANCY AND WAS EXTREMELY INSTRUMENTAL FOR THE SUCCESS OF THE PROJECT. THE CONSTRUCTION OF MYTH AND MEMORY WAS VERY COMPLEX. ONLY THESE TWO ARTIST, TOGETHER COULD HAVE PRODUCED A WORK OF ART THAT THE WORLD CAN SEE AND APPRECIATE FOR ALL TIME. GEORGE BRYANT'S VIDEO'S AND SLIDE SHOWS WERE EXCELLENT THEY MADE THE INSTALLATION HAVE MORE MEANING. THE  HELP/SUPPORT FOR SWANCY AND HIS QUEST BY BRYANT WAS AWESOME.

George Bryant was a long time friend of Andre' Swancy before coming to Georgia. Taken at Iowa State. George, Andre' and Evelyn Swancy- 1970's
